Removing the fan from shaft is the one most difficult job I experience. I have snapped bolts, snapped pulley arms, have resorted to cutting impellar off, cursed, heat while holding ice cubes on engine shaft, hit with hammer, cursed, screamed and pulled all my hair out.
What is your method of removing a stubborn fan? (we do apply anti-seize grease before installation of new fan)

I drill an third hole before I put the new fan on or you can drill and tap it when the fan is still on. just make sure you are missing the key. Make sure you clean all the holes where the bolts go. I use a tap to make sure they are clean. I use grade 8 bolts and spray oil W-D40 in the hole before putting the bolt in. After I get all three bolts in an snug them down. I take an impact hammer with a large tip. I go around impacting the fan. Then I will turn all three bolts a 1/4 turn. Then I will impact again. It might take awhile but the fan will break loose. The impacting will mess up the fan a little but this will not affect the balance. I hope this will help.
