Winners of the World Sweeping Association Scholarships for the 2019/2020 Academic School Year are…

Abby Schenck, sponsored by CAM South, dBA Sweeping Beauty, Birmingham, AL.

Abby Schenk One of Abby’s teachers had this to say about her: “I cannot speak highly enough of Abby! In my 12 years at Corner, I could name eight students I’ve taught who have gone over and above and impressed me with their character, integrity and maturity level. Abby is one of those students. Even as a freshman, Abby took pride in doing everything to the best of her ability. She never slacked off, never procrastinated, and never gave less than 100% in her classes. In addition, her kind and selfless spirit made her a favorite among her teachers and her peers. She always puts others before herself and was a valuable team player in both attitude and ability. I can say without hesitation that Abby Schenck should be at the very top of your list of scholarship recipients.” Another offered these comments: “Abby excelled in school, especially in the science courses that our school offers. She made excellent marks in the Biology and Anatomy courses that I personally instruct. She was invaluable to these classes, offering her time to assist and help others to excel.  “She worked very hard throughout school and I expect that level of determination and excellence to only increase. She is an excellent person, an excellent student, and will be an exceptional leader in our future.” Abby was eligible for the scholarship because her father, John, is Operations Manager at CAM South. Because CAM South is also a Member of the World Sweeping Association, her scholarship amount is doubled from $1,000 to $2,000.

Sarah Krawcyzk, sponsored by Southco Sweeping and Maintenance, Darlington, SC.

In part, a reference letter for Sarah, who will be pursuing an acting career, said about her: “I highly recommend this student because she is so driven and enthusiastic. She is a dream to have in class because she is constantly pursuing a deeper knowledge of the world around her. She has big plans about being on Broadway someday, and I believe she will make it happen because she has dedicated her life to the pursuit of those dreams. In addition to her love for theater, she is incredibly gifted academically. She is passionate, and I believe she will make a positive difference at college.” And, another reference letter said… “First, Sarah is driven and puts no less than 100% of her time and effort toward whatever she goes after… Sarah is also a truly genuine and caring person… She wants to be sure those around her are themselves succeeding in their own ventures and achieving all that they can to reach their personal best… She is ready to take on the new challenges that await, to follow new paths before her, to collaborate with new people, to inspire others with her talents, to study new classes that will enrich and further her education, and to achieve her goals. I am already so proud of her dedication and commitment and I know that she will make everyone else just as proud.” Sarah was eligible for the scholarship because her mother, Elizabeth, works at Southco. Because Sarah’s sponsoring sweeping company, Southco Sweeping and Maintenance, is also a Member of the World Sweeping Association, her scholarship amount is doubled from $1,000 to $2,000. Elizabeth, Sarah and LaurenIn addition, the management team at Southco decided, since co-founder Deborah McCaskill had passed away in June of 2018, to match WSA’s scholarship amount to Sarah. So, as a result of applying for WSA’s $2,000 scholarship, Sarah will be receiving a total of $4,000 toward achieving her academic goals!
