Dear WSA Members,

I’m sending this out a few days early in hopes that our first article might be useful for some of you given the hurricane news we’ve been reading about. I just got the information compiled to reference it here. For those in the target area of one of the storms, it sounds as though the outcome can be truly catastrophic.

Severe Weather
Our thoughts are definitely with those of you in the path of the recent hurricanes, most especially those WSA members in Florida and our Puerto Rico-based member, Carlos Nevares, of Sweeping & Vac Unlimited, Inc. Since severe weather patterns are increasing in very unpredictable ways, I developed a new WSA post that provides a host of information about severe weather planning.

Included is a ‘Severe weather planning guide’ as well as links to places like NOAA where you can quickly generate a safety plan, find predictions of current storms and even links to disaster relief organizations where you can get help if you’ve been caught up in a weather-related calamity.

LinkedInLearning
After surveying 3,000 professionals on LinkedIn and asking them the most frustrating trait they’ve experienced in a manager, the hands-down winner was “a manager who doesn’t foster their employees’ development.” Stand-out employees care even more than those who are average, which means they’re more likely to leave than their lesser counterparts.

Linked-In provided this excellent brief read entitled “5 Guidelines to Follow for Giving Feedback as a Manager.”

QRBeginnerGuide
We have received several inquiries in recent times about QR codes and how to use them. Because they are so useful, the strange looking black-and-white squares known as QR codes are exploding into usage. Knowing about them and using them in your brochures, on business cards and elsewhere is definitely something that can improve your marketing effort. Unless you’re already a ‘QR code pro,’ you will want to look here to see what you’re missing!

As always, if you have questions or comments about this WSA Member Update, or anything else to do with the World Sweeping Association or power sweeping in general, please let me know.

Good Sweeping,
