WSA Member Update 10.1.24 October 1, 2024 Dear WSA Members, A member has asked us if any WSA members have had good/bad experience with Preston Property Service, which operates out of Colorado. Preston appears to have obtained the contract for some Home Depots in their area. We have no informative info about the company in our Third Party Vendor section. WSA has developed a liability-limiting Addendum for you to consider adding to your client-developed contracts. I decided to first send it to our WSA Advisory Board members for review and comment. After that, I’ll be forwarding it to all of WSA’s members. I am also working with Phil Duncan to set up a Zoomcast explanatory session with a business law attorney, who will discuss each of the items and explain their importance. ![]() In a July WSA Update I included a new article about the value of having front- and rear-facing cameras in company vehicles. On that topic: The CEO of GPS Insight installed one of the company’s cameras into one of its employee’s personal vehicles. The employee then wrote what he’d learned while having it there. I think you might find those insights of value so here it is. The link has also been added to the initial article. ![]() Last year the Stormwater Awareness Week seminar done by myself and noted sweeping industry professional, Roger Sutherland, was the third most watched of the week. This year they invited us back to provide an updated webinar on the background of street sweeping (Roger’s portion) and the way street sweeping can now be updated in a variety of ways given emergent technology, which I conducted. The presentation, titled “Enhanced Street Sweeping Guidelines: How to Develop a Maximum Value Sweeping Program,” was recorded by the hosts and is available at this link. Another of interest to street sweeping pros might well be “A Data Driven Approach to Enhance Street Sweeping for Water Quality.” Most of the other seminars involved end-of-the-pipe solution info, but here’s the link to all of them if you want to review for yourself what they all were. ![]() A Boston-based law firm, Hirsh Roberts Weinstein, LLP, recently hosted a roundtable titled “When to Fire, and When to Inspire: The Role of the Executive Coach.” Since each of you with employees have the role of executive coach in some instances of employee interaction, I thought you might like to take a look/listen. The recording is linked here; the link to the presentation slides is here. As always, if you have questions or comments about this WSA Member Update, or anything else to do with the World Sweeping Association or power sweeping in general, please let me know. Good Sweeping, ![]() Ranger Kidwell-Ross, Executive Director World Sweeping Association |
