December 15, 2022

Dear WSA Members,

We welcome new WSA member DSS Street Sweeping Inc. The company is based in Newport Beach, CA.

January 1st will mark the beginning of WSA’s 11th year of operation. During that time we have increased our number of articles on various topics designed to help you ‘be all you can be’ as a power sweeping contractor to over 250 items. Plus, the WSA website now offers more than 100 audio podcasts with both successful contractors and a variety of business professionals.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for by using the table of contents, enter the topic you want to know more about in the search bar at the top right side of the WSA home page. In the event you still can’t locate what you’re looking for and/or if you have ideas for articles and information we should add, please let me know.

I recently recorded an interview with Antonio Portunato, owner of N.E.L.T.S. If you have had dealings with the company – either positive or negative – and have not yet contacted WSA about them, please take time to do so. The easiest way to let me know is via email. I intend to provide the combined information to both WSA and the wider power sweeping audience in a future WorldSweeper newsletter.

Over our 10 years of operation we have not had a dues increase to date. To keep up with that pesky inflation we all know about so well WSA dues are increasing by 10% in 2023. When you get your renewal invoice for 2023 it will be for $385. Also, since I am in the process of ordering new notebooks please let me know. if for some reason your company will not be renewing for 2023.

We have added two daily vehicle checklists to the WSA site. The one for a sweeper has been provided by Elgin dealer, Haaker. The other, a general checklist for heavy-duty chassis and related equipment, is provided by Fullbay, a provider of repair shop software.

To access both of them go to this link. I suggest that you adapt them however you feel appropriate for your company’s use.

Our December Safety First! post by John Meola offers the following good reminder topics. Examples of Tips by Meola’s Team
• Defensive Driving in Winter Tips
• Defensive Driving: A General Advisory
• Tips for Winter Dress
• Slip & Fall Awareness and Prevention
• How to Spot a Risky Situation(s)

As always, if you have questions or comments about this WSA Member Update, or anything else to do with the World Sweeping Association or power sweeping in general, please let me know.

Good Sweeping,
Ranger Kidwell-Ross
