WSA Member Update 4.15.25

April 15, 2025

Dear WSA Members,

We welcome our newest WSA member, PM Services LLC, located in Baton Rouge, LA.

Work Zone Awareness Week 2025

National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual spring campaign held at the start of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones. NWZAW is April 21-25, hosted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Use this link to learn all about the 2025 theme and poster, find the schedule of events, access event and promo guides, and more.

Major Update to WSA’s Third Party Vendor Listings

You’ll want to check out the ratings in the largest update to the Third Party Vendors section of the WSA website since that category was started. Each one has been updated. This was done via a very comprehensive process that was AI-assisted. If you have questions about the value of working with any of the third party aggregators we know about, I encourage you to check them out by clicking on their logo at the WSA listing page

Also, if you have input on any of them, positive or negative in potential contradiction to what you read about the company, please provide me with your comments for possible addition to the page.

Street Sweeper

‘Tis the Season to make sure your sweepers have received the maintenance care they need to transition from winter to spring/summer operations. To help you in that regard, check out a new post on the WSA website, “Maintenance Tips for Sweepers Transitioning to Spring/Summer Operation.”

If you have any ideas about additional items that should be on the list, please let me know.

Sweeping=Safety

I’ve added a new handout you may want to use. It’s located in the WSA website’s “Forms section” in the “Forms and Handouts for Power Sweeping Contractors section” and is called “The Role of Parking Lot and Street Sweepers in Enhancing Safety.”

Meola Safety First

Speaking of safety, this month our Safety First! post has reminders about a variety of topics. April’s Safety First! message discusses the following:
• Emphasizing Work Zone Safety Week
• Spring Creates Upswing in Incidents – Focus!
• Prepare Ahead and Report Incidents/Near Misses
• Defensive Driving
• The Weather: Don’t Take It For Granted
• Hand & Finger Injury Prevention

As always, if you have questions or comments about this WSA Member Update, or anything else to do with the World Sweeping Association or power sweeping in general, please let me know.

Good Sweeping,
Ranger Kidwell-Ross
