WSA Member Update 5.15.25

May 15, 2025 Dear WSA Members, In ‘housekeeping news,’ I have decided to discontinue offering scholarships. For whatever reason, there has been little interest or applicants in the last several years.  We have previously discussed the many reasons why using front- and/or rear-facing cameras provide value. However, some operators can have privacy concerns when they have a camera facing them and recording their actions, even though the intent is safety and operator training.  One of our WSA members asked about how to present cameras to its operators so they better understand the reasoning for using them. Here is an article I did for you on that topic as a PDF file, in case you want to use it as a handout. If you’d like to modify the wording prior to handing it out to your employees, here is a Word file. (Note: The Word file should automatically go to your downloads folder.) If you have any ideas about additional items you’d like to be discussed or learn more information about, please let me know. I developed for you this PDF document, which is entitled “Strategies to Achieve Growth.” I also included the same information as a Word document so you can modify the information however you’d like. Those of you who have long used computers may think you know all the shortcuts in working within your operating system. However, you may not have learned all of them, as well as some of the basics that make computer use easier, faster, better. The same is probably true of some of your employees.  Custom Guide also offers a wide variety of information on how to navigate many programs. Some are free and others have a charge. In this case, they are offering their guide called “Computer Basics” at no charge and, on the last page you will also be presented with a list of many other guides the company offers. Here’s the link; even if you’re good with a computer you’ll want to take a look. I suggest you also pass the link around to others in your company who may not be quite so efficient on a computer. The document tools that Fleetio offers for free caught my eye.
