July 1, 2020 Dear WSA Members,

RodMoore100wAwhile back I found myself in Michigan and, while there, had an opportunity to ride along with Rod Moore, General Manager of WSA Advisory Board company C&J Parking Lot Sweeping. During our afternoon together visiting customers, I asked Rod to talk about the business concepts he feels has made C&J so successful over its more than 40 years of operation. Here’s the 17-minute video, which will also be included in WorldSweeper’s July e-newsletter.
Harvard Covid Map
The Harvard Global Health Institute, in conjunction with many other organizations, has joined forces to launch a new COVID Risk Level map and COVID suppression guidancethat provides data at the county level for all counties in the US – to help guide decisionmaking for policy makers and the public. Another link on the site, which went online today, shows new COVID-19 testing targets for July.

ForConstructionPros.com offered a short, worthwhile, article entitled “5 Strategies for Hiring During a Pandemic.” The article tagline reminds there is now a “new normal” for hiring and onboarding these days. The five tips in the article are worth considering if you’re looking to hire.

On the other end of the scale, if you have the need to remove an employee you will want to check out the new info recently added to the WSA website entitled “Developing a Termination Procedures Checklist.” It was developed recently by XpertHR’s Legal Editor and provides details about each of the five different areas you will want to consider when considering the termination of an employee.
Scholarships Logo
It pains me to report that WSA received only one application for our two WSA Memorial Scholarships by today’s July 1st deadline. This is unfortunate since I am sure that some of you have employees whose children are furthering their education via trade school or college and who could have used the $2,000 in tuition/book expenses that the scholarship offered.
